All About the TRAIL

A curated journey across Bengal and Odisha’s textile heartlands and craft-rich corridors, connecting handwoven traditions, natural dyes, heritage art, and living artisan communities.

Once the capital of Bengal under the Nawabs and a thriving global trading hub in the 18th century, Murshidabad is a place where history, craft, and silk are tightly interwoven. Today, it holds a quieter rhythm, but its loom culture, textile legacy, and living artisan communities still whisper powerful stories through their warp and weft.

Tucked into the verdant northeastern corner of Odisha, Mayurbhanj is a land of tribal heritage, sacred forests, and understated textile brilliance. Known more for its biodiversity and ancient temples, it is also the birthplace of a lesser-known, yet powerful weaving culture that blends natural materials, earthy design, and indigenous narratives.

Threads of the East: From Loom to Legacy

A curated, immersive travel experience that brings together some of Eastern India’s most culturally and ecologically significant textile and craft regions. Focused on Murshidabad (West Bengal), Mayurbhanj (Odisha), and nearby allied areas, this trail is designed to foster deep engagement with the artisans, landscapes, traditions, and communities that have sustained handloom, fiber crafts, and indigenous knowledge systems for generations.

This journey invites a tribe of conscious explorers, artists, designers, researchers, and culture-seekers to move slowly and intentionally through living traditions—from sericulture-fed silk to forest-foraged dyes and tribal weaving, to story-rich sarees and tactile memories.
